At the Archives – Ottawa’s History of Rock and Roll

The City of Ottawa is developing an exhibit on the history of Rock and Roll in Ottawa from circa 1954 to 2012. The exhibit will open in October 2013 at the City of Ottawa Central Archives, 100 Tallwood Drive.

The City Archives is looking to document as much of the local music scene as possible. Would you be able to help? The research collected will be stored and preserved for future generations in the new Central Archives building. A research paper on Ottawa’s history of rock will be made available in the reference room library, accessible to the public at all times.

Aux Archives - L'Histoire du rock à Ottawa

La Ville d’Ottawa prépare une exposition sur l’histoire du rock and roll à Ottawa de 1954 (environ) à 2012. L’exposition sera présentée à compter du mois d’octobre 2013 aux Archives de la Ville d’Ottawa, situées au 100, promenade Tallwood.

Les Archives cherchent à réunir le plus de documents possible sur la scène musicale locale. Seriez-vous en mesure d'aider? Les documents de recherche qui seront recueillis seront entreposés et préservés pour les générations futures dans le nouvel immeuble du 100, promenade Tallwood.

City of Ottawa Archives is offering an exciting one day camp for children for 9 to 11 years old. This camp is for kids who like to write, take photographs or create their own artwork. Using hands-on activities they will learn how to save and store their own creations so they last a life time.

March 14, 2013 - 8:30am- 3:30pm at the James Bartleman Centre, 100 Tallwood Drive, Ottawa. $40 for the day.

Grete Hale, well-known community leader and author of Baker’s Daughter: The story of a long, rich and very Canadian life, will speak about her memories of Ottawa and her family’s company Morrison-Lamothe.

The talk will be followed by the AGM. Free admission and parking. All are welcome to attend.
